Job Description

The Technology and Cyber Compliance and Operational Risk Office (TCCORO) at Citi is the firms reliable second set of eyes. Our mission is to drive comprehensive and consistent practices designed to identify, measure, monitor, report and manage operational and compliance risks while promoting the implementation of actions to address root causes which may lead to unintended operational losses or regulatory breaches. TCCORO provides the specialist subject matter experts to challenge Enterprise, Infrastructure, Operations and Technology entities across the firm. We are the technology and cyber conscience of the bank. In line with the Operational Risk Management (ORM) and Independent Compliance Risk Management (ICRM) frameworks, we aim to ensure that the internal controls that are designed to mitigate technology and cyber risks are managed, mitigated, and aligned with our risk appetite.

The Tech & Cyber Risk Analytics & Reporting Director (Hybrid) manages a team to deliver a diverse set of risk and compliance reporting deliverables consisting of ad hoc and repeated data analyses. They will be responsible for the establishment of a data and tooling strategy to support the sustainable execution for their function. Requires an in-depth understanding of technology tooling which supports a data management and analytics function in a risk organization (including data analysis, visualization, data management, GRC, etc.). Previous experience conducting analysis (descriptive, diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive) will be critical to guiding the team, and performing analysis as the lead will be expected to be a servant leader. A strong understanding of analytical and risk frameworks (in the context of a global financial services institution) is necessary to contribute to the commercial objectives of the business. Experience standing up a new analytical function or product preferred. Requires the ability to assess needs, and develop and execute a strategic program, combined with a solid conceptual/practical grounding in both tech/cyber risk and/or data, analytics, and reporting. Excellent communication skills required to negotiate internally, often at a senior level. Some external communication/negotiation may be necessary.

Accountable for end results, budgeting, planning, policy formulation and contribution to future strategy of the area(s). Full management responsibility for multiple teams, including management of people, budget, and planning, to include duties such as performance evaluation, compensation, hiring, disciplinary actions and terminations. May be involved or responsible for diverse (cross-discipline) activities. Typically, a direct report to a C16 role and function is an integral member of the functional leadership team within a country/site location, job family, or line of business.

Responsibilities:

  • Build a data and analytics capability (function) which delivers robust risk analytics and insights leveraging various types of data analysis (e.g., descriptive, factor, diagnostic, etc.)
  • Partners with senior business coverage and risk teams to develop bespoke analysis to support the specific risks associated with their areas of focus
  • Develop a data strategy and roadmap to enable adoption of Generative AI
  • Capture and prioritize all AI use cases across Operational Risk Management
  • Develop sustainable BAU reporting capabilities (dashboarding, standardized reporting, etc.) to support departmental execution of second line of defense responsibilities
  • Manages risk by using established technology delivery management and control processes to address execution challenges associated with quality, schedule, and cost.
  • Implements delivery and technology management approach for projects and associated plans to achieve strategic business goals and operational objectives.
  • Owns financial responsibility for Data and Analytics standard platforms and resources.
  • Serves as subject matter expert to team members on escalated issues, guiding them in the development and delivery of their work product.
  • Manages team to interpret business requirements into technology specifications, ensures platform stability, data quality, and client support.
  • Acquires and apply advanced knowledge of the business, products and processes to ensure data quality and business delivery.
  • Partners to drive adoption of new selected technologies into standard support models and systems.
  • Directs technology lead managers to ensure effective project execution, risk and issue identification, management, and escalation.
  • Manages and delivers all aspects of analytics grid and integration with new Big Data capabilities including introduction and training on newest capabilities and services.
  • Provides rapid response resources to deliver business augmentation and data support.
  • Synthesize analyses, identifies root causes, and develops plans for remediation of issues pertaining to Data and Analytics.
  • Facilitates development of project plans related to schedule, budget, scope, and resources while monitoring project execution to deliver incremental business value.
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years managerial experience
  • Degree in computer science, information technology, software engineering or related work experience
  • 15+ years experience managing technology projects and resources, relevant business support and/or general analysis experience
  • Self-motivated and goal-oriented with the ability to seize the initiative, garner consensus and develop and implement an effective strategy. Demonstrates a high level of analytical rigor in formulating strategies, goals and measuring results.
  • Sense of urgency in implementing programs and evaluating priorities; decisive, action-oriented and practical.
  • Willingness to challenge and question the status quo, making recommendations for options and best solutions.
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking skills. Organizationally astute, with influencing, collaboration and communication skills. Personal presence, intellect, energy and drive to succeed in a high-performance environment.
  • Able to analyze and think through highly complex issues, but then appropriate execute and implement against a well thought through framework in a seamless manner. A global citizen who is comfortable in all geographies, regions and cultures.
  • Able to adapt his/her style to suit the different needs of any audience.

Education:

  • Bachelors/University degree, Masters degree preferred and managerial experience
