Your Role

As the Director of Program and Launch Management, Americas at Aptiv, you will be responsible for providing strategic leadership and oversight for launching new product programs and supporting active production programs across the Americas region.

This role requires an experienced leader with a strong background in automotive program management, product development, and manufacturing operations, exceptional communication skills, and a proven track record of delivering complex projects on time and within budget.

You will lead a team of program, project, and launch managers, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful launch of new product programs. This position has dual reporting responsibility to both the VP and Managing Director, Americas and the VP of Global Program Management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic direction and leadership for the Program and Launch Management functions, aligning with business objectives and goals.
  • Take ownership as Regional Process Owner for program and launch management processes, methodologies, and tools as per Global PMO guidelines.
  • Lead and mentor a team of program , project, and launch managers, providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities.
  • Drive the execution of all new product launch programs, ensuring adherence to project timelines, financial targets, and customer requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, operations, finance, and quality to ensure alignment and integration of launch activities.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including customers, suppliers, and internal leadership, to drive program success.
  • Identify and mitigate program risks and issues, proactively implementing corrective actions to keep programs on track.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the Program and Launch Management functions, identifying opportunities to streamline processes and enhance efficiency, in collaboration with Global PMO.
  • Monitor program metrics and provide regular updates to senior leadership (regional and global), highlighting achievements, challenges, and areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with other regions (Asia, Europe) to quote, develop, and launch new products with remote customers, engineering teams, and manufacturing plants.
  • Regional or international travel to other Aptiv, customer, or supplier sites as required.

Your Background

Key ingredients for succeeding in this role are your:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or related field; graduate degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 12 years of combined experience in automotive program management, product development, and/or manufacturing operations, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing large, complex programs from initiation to completion (quote, development, industrialization, launch, sustainment).
  • Experience with hardware and software-based products both in development and production environments.
  • Strong leadership and managerial skills across multiple sites and countries, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams to achieve ambitious goals.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including understanding of cultural sensitivity with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and execute program strategies aligned with business objectives.
  • Experience working in a global, matrixed organization with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to thrive in both structured and unstructured environments as required to deliver on business and customer commitments.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to quickly identify issues and develop creative solutions.
  • Proficiency in project management tools and methodologies, including waterfall and agile methodologies.
  • PMP certification or equivalent preferred.
