Our Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Senior Engineer with expertise in ADAS, EVs and/or AVs for our Vehicle Engineering Practice in our Phoenix, AZ; Atlanta, GA; or Farmington Hills, MI office. The candidate should have a fundamental interest in the automotive field, be technically talented with good hands-on skills, have excellent communication skills, and be motivated to grow professionally within Exponent.

You will be responsible for
  • Supporting existing consulting projects that involve the analysis and testing of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS); automated vehicles; electric vehicles; vehicle, engine, and component performance (e.g., emissions; fuel economy; noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH); drivability; acceleration; etc.); federal emissions and fuel economy testing; mechanical failures; safety assessments; federal and state regulations; and the design of consumer and industrial products.
  • Developing specialized expertise in the automotive field such as the design, performance, and testing of existing or emerging automotive technology.
  • Setting up and executing various test programs, including full-scale vehicle tests and component or control systems evaluations.
  • Managing projects from initiation to completion and ensuring that Exponent meets its deadlines and produces exceptional work product.
You will have the following skills and qualifications
  • Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field and 2+ years of experience (or an M.S. and 4+ years of experience)
  • Experience in ADAS, electric vehicles (EVs), automated vehicles (AVs), and/or vehicle safety, vehicle and automotive system design, development, testing, and deployment
  • Knowlege of automotive systems
  • Field and/or lab measurement experience required
  • Must have analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Must have knowledge of dynamics, mechanical design, and control systems
  • P.E. license or the willingness to obtain a P.E. license
  • Must be versatile, team-oriented, willing to work overtime and travel when required
  • Must possess strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to synthesize technical information and present it to specialists and non-specialists alike
  • Clear written communication and technical writing skills are required
  • Must have a proven dedication to quality and accuracy
