Tool Maker / Machinist

Job Description Summary

Sets up and operates CNC lathes or mills to perform a series of machining operations such as turning, boring, threading, and facing, on metal workpieces by performing the following duties.

Job Description

1) Ability to use Computer Systems to, but not limited to, the following tasks:

a) Read and send E-mail

b) Check inventory

e) Select and print Set-up packages for jobs

2) Operates lathes, mills, and grinders as required.

3) Machine Set-up.

4) Reads blueprint, tooling instructions, and standard charts for such specifications as dimensions, tolerances, and tooling instructions such as type of holding fixtures, cutting speeds, feed rates, and cutting tools to be used.

5) Moves controls to set specified rotation speeds, feed rates, and depth of cuts.

6) Verifies conformance of machined workpieces to specifications.

7) Mills as required.

8) Grinds as required.

9) Computes such data as dimensions, rotation speeds, feed rates, and machining times.

10) Works with the Tool Control System.

12) Follows all quality systems.

13) Follows all procedures.

22) Follow all OMF Industries, Local, State, Federal, MIOSHA, OSHA, and DEQ Safety and Environmental Policies, Procedures, and Regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Must be able to provide a Journeymen's card or a minimum of eight year of documented related work in the field.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, quality documents, set-up instructions, and blueprints. Ability to fill out charts and other simple documents. Ability to effectively communicate with team members verbally and through e-mail.
