Technical Instructor:
This position is responsible for delivering and evaluating Cognex multimedia product courses and other education resources for all major Cognex products. Work involves the following areas: classroom courses, customer site courses, online courses, instructional videos, student record keeping, and occasionally special projects to drive our industry leading educational services customer experience.
Essential Functions:
Prepare and deliver engaging multimedia presentations to classrooms of up to 20 people (in-person and/or virtually)
Facilitate guided lab exercises while providing feedback and coaching to students
Support the instructional design team with intuitive feedback regarding course content, lab exercises, and workflows
Possess knowledge of setup and applications for all major Cognex products including but not limited to: DataMan, In-Sight, VisionPro, Cognex Designer, Vision Suite, ViDi, and Ether-Inspect
Maintain classroom lab hardware, furniture, and computer equipment/supplies
Register and enter student records into our Learning Management System (LMS)
Generate and deliver certificates of completion to students that have successfully finished training
Support the administration of our LMS with user profile additions, updates, and permissions
Aid our Order Administration team with confirmation of student completion of courses for matching POs to registrations as well as invoicing or payment collection activities
Arrange personal travel and lodging to regional Cognex offices as well as customer facilities to deliver Cognex instructional training sessions
Coordinate the booking of offsite training spaces, meal catering, equipment shipping, and student material orders for on-site classes when necessary
Take direct responsibility and contribute to content development projects with the utmost quality when assigned by your manager
Support the creation of polished instructional videos for external and internal consumption
Contribute to the review of our team mailbox and assist with new training requests, changes to current registrations, completed courses certificate creation, and registration confirmations
Provide innovative ideas that drive the enhancement of training content and any aspects of instructional delivery.
Support our annual department goals and KPI's with innovative and collaborative contributions.
Drive continuous improvements in the department using data driven metrics for guidance.
Willingness to travel 8-10 days per month for onsite training assignments.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Vision system knowledge: Basic or advanced knowledge of cameras, lenses, and optics theory.
Previous experience troubleshooting, setting up, or developing applications utilizing Cognex hardware and software.
Proficiency with PCs, Microsoft 365 Suite, and basic networking knowledge.
Delivering engaging courses. Listen patiently to customers and help them achieve their learning objectives. Requires the ability to explain complicated topics in a simple and tactful way.
Experience creating presentations, videos, interactive tutorials, and assessments for use in self-guided training.
Willing to travel and deliver on-site courses at regional customer facilities.
Able to provide and receive feedback, collaborate with, and assist other team members and other teams on daily work tasks and projects.
Speaking and writing multiple languages is a strong plus based on region.
Minimum education and work experience required:
Experience in a similar role with an emphasis put on instructional aptitude, adult learning methodology, training delivery, and public speaking
3-5 years of customer facing engineering or Field Service experience in a manufacturing setting
Technical Degree or equivalent work experience
